A simple trick for newbies to learn how to arrange edm music for the first time

How newbies can learn to arrange trance

You know what I have been on some of the edm forums lately and I noticed a lot of newbies still do not know how to arrange or dont know where to start or to go about arranging there first trance track.

So that is when I decided to post this article and a video about just that. Arranging your first trance track.

We all been there

The fact is we all been there at some point in time when we did not know what to do in our producing years whether it was making a lead sound, getting that sidechain to sound right or getting the bass to be funky or getting your drum loops to sound real. You know we all been there some point in our careers and we did what we had to to get by.

So thats where I come in. I want to be your go to guy if you need any questions regarding edm trance or techno. Recording or arranging sequencing ! You name it if theres something you have question about just leave it in comment section. As I enjoy making music and like to help others as if I was struggling id like for someone to help me out after all we all been there at some point.

The video

Okay here is a video I put up on my youtube . I just started this channel recently dont really have any subscribers so knock yourself out and be the first to subscribe so youll know of any edm related videos that may interest you. And of course spread the word about my channel to other friends in the edm world.

Back to the video,I know sometimes I can ramble off on stuff at times.

The video is short  and it is showing you how to and where to put your elements in the arrange pane. Then you just go back and put record your sounds and your elements in . It really is that simple I would not use this same concept to steal someones arrangement I would just use it  in your home studio. Or your studio to practice arranging only.

Do the unexpected

What makes great music  is not stealing someones arrangement ,in fact what makes great trance  music is when you can be unique and do things unexpected.

Instead of starting your track with a kick then  high hat then percussion then bass.Start your track with some string  pads and some fx. Instead of starting your track with the same boring intro start your track full on with everything but the listener thinks its everything but you then decide to fool the listener and bring the real song in later in the song  again something unexpected. Instead of using the same  boring bass drum make your own sounding bass drum in reaktor you get the point so be unique and use your creative juices they wont fail you ever!

the original edm bands from back in the day

What happened to the original  edm pioneers. Growing up in the 70s and 80s I was a product of mtv and was into the underground club scene.Though I started out in the school band and playing instruments, then led to djing, and mix tapes  ,break dancing the whole nine you name it,I was doing it. For quite a while I was into freestyle in the 80s. Then all of the sudden something came over me and I just fell in love with  techno for some reason and of course the progressive house/trance movement in the middle to late nineties. I used to be a clubkid I would go to all the clubs  from limelight, tunnel, sound factory, tequila Joes, loop lounge, shelter, temptations,Bahama mamas, lana lounge just to name a few as you can see I pretty much a club kid. I think I was the only guy in the club who was not high as I only went there for the music and to dance! Sure guys came up to me and asked me if I needed anything but ,I just said no! The music was my high Rea...

The Call and Response in edm

When you produce any type of music there will be times where you either draw a blank! Or you need something for a section, something unique ,something different.Something unique. Maybe you just want to add some tension to a otherwise boring song. Maybe you are working on a remix contest and want to stand out from the rest! Whatever the case is no matter what you are working on,theres one thing you can go to everytime to spice up any track. Its called the call and response. How does it work  You cannot mess with science this pretty much will work every time.So how does it work? What does it sound like? The truth is you’ve allready heard it millions ,countless times already . You just may not have been producing or composing or arranging at the time so it was not that clear to you. Every song you hear  today on the radio in the clubs at a concert utilizes a form of call and response. The question and the answer The most common one is the question ...
