hard edm tutorial - with only samples

Making edm with only samples Hello people i wanted to show you how to make a edm track with only samples alone. There will be times when you want to make a track you have the creativity, and the desire and the know how to do it. But one thing is lacking you do not have the synths to recreate the sounds. Youre not sure the key was used maybe your not that good with music theory. Maybe you do not have the time and want to make a track fast without all the work.  Thats is what samples are for Yes that is what samples are for and they are great for this. Most sample packs are just drag and drop and already in sync no need to time stretch or beat match or anything . Just drag and drop and you will have your song in minutes. So in this blog post i will be making 3 songs 1 edm and 2 house songs to give you an idea of how easy it is to do yourself. So the first video of this blog installment is edm which will be followed by house music. I just added a deep ho

Producing your first edm track as a newbie

We were all new once  We were all newbies once .We all started from scratch from nothing. But those that still produce today those that kept at it,we continued to preserve  ,to get better and make our own style of sound and have our own way of making edm. We have our own brand so to speak of. When people hear our music they know instantly that is so and so that is that other guy or gal. So when your first starting out it can be tricky to navigate the whole edm landscape of all the different genres ,all the terminology.  I get it it is easy to get lost in the shuffle between knowing what a side chain is between a side stick or the difference between contrast and contrary.  That's  why I am here to help you. I creates this edm blog tutorial just for you to help you along your way. Look at the blogs archive on some of my past blog posts on how to program certain sounds leads and melodies or main riffs. Like I said earlier we were all new once . So in this post I want to fo

Yes newbies while my tutorials are for newbies you may find something helpful for yourself even if you been producing for a while. So let me tell you about the video. The Video  In the meantime this video is a short video where i show you how easy it is to make melodic trance. Melodic trance is one of my favorites by the way to produce. So if you have any questions about melodic trance or making chord progressions or stacking your elements. leave your comments in the comment section below. In the video i keep it simple. I show you what newbies do as a mistake. Most newbies will just loop a 2 bar melody to the  point of boredom and you just want to kill yourself. But when you been practicing and producing for a while you will understand that when you do not play the same arp over and over and call it a song. Well thats the gist of it in the video i show you first what not to

How to make Techno music

How to make a Techno lead This is for all the newbies out there, just starting out on how to make that techno lead. I will be posting many tutorials on different synths so you can get a basic idea on how to produce that wicked techno lead. The first tutorial is with using v-station. I know V-station is like ancient and no one uses v-station  or k station anymore. The hope is some people still use it. The thing is you can use my tutorials with any of your synths as long as you have an analog synth with asdr envelopes thats all you need to follow along. so have a look at the video on youtube  here How to make a techno lead with minimal I just made another video for those of you who do not have v-station. this synth is called minimal it is a free vst you can find   here I wanted to create this video to teach newbies how easy it is to produce techno so enjoy the video. you can watch it  here on youtube

How to play a guitar

I have had this question in my mind for a while. Growing up in the 70s i have listened and admired some of these famous guitar players. I know this is a edm blog and thats the main focus but,i dont discriminate and am a fan of the arts. So ask yourself If everyone learn to play the  guitar, just like everyone does from a guitar teacher .Yes with the same basic guitar lessons when they learn the basics of electric guitar and acoustic guitar, guitar chords etc. Then why do we have famous guitar players with there own signature sound? If everyone learns the same basics guitar lessons of learning to play the guitar. Then how do you explain this? Stevie Ray Vaughan Eric Clapton Jimmy Hendrix Eddie Van Halen Slash Carlos Santana Lenny Kravitz Each one of these artists sound is unique and they all sound great but ,why dont they all sound the same if they all took the same guitar lessons when they were little?

Adding movement to your supersaw trance pad breakdowns

Adding movement to your breakdowns Incase you have been  under a rock all year and have not heard my music then you will already know that I have a knack for the classic techno and trance. Hey my twitter handle is @oldskooltekno my email address starts with teknooldskool . So as you can see I am very fond of the oldskool style trance and techno the kind you did not hear on the radio unless it was a college radio station and it was 3am in the morning.   A bit of history So while I may be a product of the 80s and grew up in the 80s and fell in love with techno  and trance back then from the onset. I know its not 1989 or 1992 it is actually 2018. For the most part recent producers  and modern producers of today do not use or implement these long evolving breakdowns you have come to know, like Rank1  or Tiestos rendition of adigio for strings. Why add movement? The reason you will add some movement to your pads in the way of harmony ,and some use of tension is you

Music theory in edm music

two chord progressions in edm   Using two chord progressions in edm If you have heard any of my music by now you know im a fan of music theory! Not only does music theory make your music come alive, but without it ,without knowing it you cant break the rules and create some hands in the air music to get people going crazy on the dance floor. Or just get people going crazy about your music in the first place. So what i done here in this video is show you a simple trick to get  a certain vibe going or to create some tension in your music. All you have to do is create two chord progressions!  Yes thats it! The trick is to not just create anyone they have to be in same key same scale etc for it to sound good. So choose a first and a third  or the tonic and the fourth whatever you decide. Just make sure it sounds good. About the sound So in the video i basically just show you one loop in gmaj then another in c-minor. I did not program a full on intro or anything i

Make your drum loops come alive

Make your drum loops come alive the easy way           On the message boards and forums i notice a lot of newbies for some reason are using the  same, hit for each drum hit in there drum set for the entire song.  Do not let that be you! One of the best things we can do as  edm producers is try our best to think like drummers and do what they would do.           One thing to keep in mind is drummers have 2 arms and two legs so they will not be able to hit a tom drum a high hat a side stick a bongo and a snare all at the same time!  Im sure you have seen these songs in the forums or on soundcloud.com and you were asking yourself is the person  for real or what??? Make a loop for each phrase So the thing to do to sound natural is to have a drum loop for each section: A drum loop for intro a drum loop for drop a drum loop for the risde a drum loop for pre chorus a drum loop for the first verse a drum loop when the first arp come

How newbies can learn to arrange trance You know what I have been on some of the edm forums lately and I noticed a lot of newbies still do not know how to arrange or dont know where to start or to go about arranging there first trance track.
